Kennedy supported Nguyen Van Thieu and Nguyen Cao Ky, the corrupt leaders of Vietnam. Even when Vietnam fell to the communist regime, Thieu loaded a plane with full of gold ingots and escape to Europe. We back the Shah. Then we supported Ayatollah Khomeni. We back Saddam: remember Donald Rumsfeld's meeting with Saddam and we sold Saddam chemical weapons which he used against his own people and against Iran. How do we know this? Donald Rumsfeld still keeps the receipts. Now we are backing Karzai, a corrupt ineffective president of Afghanistan. Obama keeps sending troops to that country to the extend that volunteer forces are almost stretched to the limits. Recruitment is down since potential new recruits know that they will be sent to the battle front against extremists Talibans and suicide bombers. Look at what just happened in Jakarta, Indonesia where JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton hotels were destroyed by suicide bombers. Eight people were killed and dozens wounded and lost their limbs.news.yahoo.com When there is not enough recruits to the armed forces, the draft will have to be reinstated. We do the fighting with our brave soldiers while Karzai is just benefitting being a corrupt person. U.S. military deaths are also fast approaching their highest levels of the war, with at least 23 killed in combat so far this month. September 2008 was the worst month for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, with 26 killed in action. news.yahoo.com Should Obama reinstate the draft, he will be a one time president, and that opens the way for Sarah Palin to assume the post of most powerful person in the world in January 2013. That will be a disaster. Regardless of who is in power, I don't think the current situation in the government is healthy since there is no checks and balances. The Executive and the Legislative branches are under the same party, and as a matter of fact the Democrats practically control the Senate where ther can't be a filibuster. While we have a comedian as the newest senator, he has a vote that could tip the balance to any legislative agenda that Obama proposes. We suffered from that one party domination from 2001 through 2007. And yet, no balls Nancy Pelosi and smurf Harry Reid did not have the guts to challenge Bush or Cheney for violating the constitution. Obama is smart but he is not without mistake. And currently his biggest mistake is a military surge in Afghanistan. 68,000 soldiers to capture Osama bin Laden? He might not be alive for that matter. John McCain said in his campaign that he knows how to capture bin Laden. Obama should send McCain to Afghanistan to let him prove what he said in 2008. (I am being cynical).
