THE 2009 Open ...

If '(She)ila who must be obeyed' would only allow me to watch one sporting event a year, it would be THE Open.

Tom broke my heart back in '77 when he adged out Jack in Turnberry's 'Duel in the Sun' ...

Dan Jenkins called it the greatest golf game ever in a great SI recap.

Tom earned that one. Cink earned this one.

Yesterday morning I took Watson's "Getting up and Down" down from the bookshelf. A great primer on the game from 40 yards in.

<< John Daly should have be penalized for the way he dressed. >>

His girlfriend looked pretty good in her coordinated outfits. Fortunately John was never paired with Ian Poulter this year. Together they would have broken some cameras. My all time favorite Open Victory was John's at the Old Course over Angel Cabrera. I watched all 72 holes of that one, and his putting in the wind was what most amazed me.

What's Wrong With These Photos?

It's not the lighthouse.

Another senior moment (mine, not Tom's). Make that Costantino Rocca not Angel Cabrera vanquished by John in THE '95 Open.
