The Globalstar one is still a work in progress. It has been decades under development. At present, I'm right out but hope to invest again if they show any sensible marketing plan.

Indeed I'm an investor in Qi and in fact the sole shareholder so far. Also the sole developer [with some consultant helpers from time to time]. As with CDMA, timing is the key to success.

CDMA couldn't work until there was sufficient processing power in little ASICs that could fit into handsets.

Qi couldn't work either until a need was seen [plenty of people are seeing a need now but a decade ago when I was ranting about the new currency, nobody could see a need]. Also, the technological zeitgeist needs to be just right with good processing power etc positioned just so.

As you can imagine, moving 0s and 1s around the place by the petatrillion without any getting lost takes some co-ordination and security systems. I don't want Kim Jung Il cranking up his counterfeiting machines, nor NSA denial of service attacks. The fibre pipes under the ocean have to not leak seawater in. It's a complex system.

PS: I did have some help with CDMA. The ASIC design part of it was not in my skill set and the encoding of Fourier stuff needed more mathematical lubricity than my rusty 1970s maths enabled. To be quite honest, my skill set contribution to the actual development of the actual working technology was to send them money. Surprise, surprise! I bet you were thinking I did it all myself. But providing cash is a noble enough contribution in my book.
