Used to love to walk around the Marketplatz (?) in Stuttgart with the smells coming from small restaurants around the square. I learned there was far more variety in German foods than saurbraten and wiener schnitzel... I like the heavy stick to your ribs kind of food. We drove through the Schwarzwald region while on a driving vacation and will never forget the tantalizing smells in the small towns and villages we drove through around lunchtime. There was a popular restaurant right outside of Boeblingen that seemed to specialize in wild game dishes..can't recall the name. Also had a couple of nice meals in Congresshalle in Boelingen. I live about 70 miles north of NYC near Poughkeepsie... I worked for IBM.
