ComputerNewswire Oct 28, 1997 KEYBOARDS RECALLED.

Users of WebTV are advised to use keyboard covers to prevent a defect which has shown up in their keyboards.
"The problem would have never been discovered, if it wasn't for the prevalence of pornography on the internet", said Jim Meoff, Technical Director at WebTV.
Apparantly some web surfers tend to get carried away when visiting these sexually explicit sites, and can "mess up" their keyboards. Most computer keyboards can weather this kind of abuse, but WebTV keyboards have a design flaw which causes random "-"s to be inserted if the keyboards are 'pearlized'.
One victem of the defect agreed to speak to us in an email interview on condition of anonomity. We will call him "B-ill".

I d-id not thi-nk I wa-s hur-ting anyb-ody. I jus-t wante-d to g-et my ro-cks of-f.

Sources say the problem is widespread. WebTV users are advised to return their keyboard to the factory for repairs (and cleaning), or to simply 'point that thing the other way'.
