Although the antitrust laws are going to protect IDT and Cyrix from predatory practices, what are they going to do about Slot 1 architecture and/or 300mh+? Anybody know the answer to this? Do any of the new guys have some sort of competition in development, or is the new field going to continue to belong to this.

By the way, I just read an old article comparing the performance of a PentiumII, 6x86 and K6 (no IDT entry) running various common business software under Win95 and NT. Cyrix completely smoked Intel, running the software considerably faster in every category, and AMD was generally faster, as well. When word gets out, Intel is really going to lose market share in Socket 7 computers. A month ago, I would have bought an Intel PentiumII 233 without thinking twice. Now, I'd get a Cyrix even at the same price!
