"Medical Tourism" has even been written-up in the glossy mainstream magazines like Time and NewsWeek, and covered by most national newspapers.

American travel agents work with major foreign medical centers (India, Thailand, Taiwan, etc., etc.) to craft packages that they can sell combining medical treatment and surgical procedures with extended stays for recovery (private nursing, physical therapists, etc.) at special facilities... and round trip travel back to the US.

All at 1/2, 1/3, or even less, what it would cost stateside.

Many insurance companies *gladly* pre-approve the tabs because it saves THEM so much money vs. paying to have treatment in the high-cost US.
