michael lewis needs to go to iceland.

i'd like to go too. sounds fascinating.

disagree about icelandic wind energy; the no brainer there is geothermal energy.

A quick data point regarding Japanese coming to New Zealand: <"Visitor numbers from Japan fell 4700 or 67 per cent to 2300 last month, the lowest number of arrivals from Japan in any month since June 1985, SNZ said." > nzherald.co.nz More dismal information there [dismal for NZ].

But the NZ$ has zoomed against the US$ while borrowing continues to zoom in NZ too, with no visible means of repayment. Uridashi are being rolled over and added to it seems, not sold and repatriated to Japan.

Another data point - Bing couldn't find that news but Google did. Bing has been doing well for me and I like their daily picture very much.

Iceland and Ireland might look bleak, but NZ might look bleaker, even as summer arrives.

>>There is meager export potential.<<

Iceland is a significant exporter of aluminum. It's abundant hydropower supports multiple smelter operations that import bauxite and export refined aluminum. There is considerable room for expansion, especially if geothermal power is tapped.
