I can see the point. T. Boone Pickens talks about the ready, aim, aim, aim, aim............syndrome where we just want everything to be perfect before we pull the trigger.

What we need is NG infrastructure more than research. If the NG were available, I have no doubt the NGV would take off like wildfire. But if you have no convenient way to fill your NGV's tank, you aren't going to want the car.

We have more natural gas than we know what to do with. We have perfectly adequate NGVs ready to drive. We just need to connect the two.

Sure the NGV could always be tweaked so I guess the bill does no harm as long as it is not used as an excuse to delay the conversion to NG based transportation.

And as I've said, If such great USA companies like Honda, feel a demand for their NG vehicles, they will be happy to perfect the technology. No real need for the government to get involved here.

What the government should be doing is encouraging the build out of the infrastructure.
