What a thoughtful, helpful article. Ditto. I hope the issue of how we are going to ration care gets more play. It is an inevitable and the worst thing we can do is back into some sort of system....as we did with our current employer based system. There was a long, rather emotional segment on a Canadian woman who had to wait for months for back surgery, with the subtext of "is this REALLY what you want, America?". I agree that these are useless. However, they really are just the flip side to all of the stories about how the insurance companies refused to cover anything or dropped people from their coverage. Personally, I've never been a fan of the anecdotal story as news. Slacker

MSNBC is the same way on the left. Depends on when you watch. Early morning stuff is rightish--Morning Joe and Dylan Rattigan. In their defense, like the evening stuff, it's explicitly labeled as commentary. Middle of the day stuff is more newsy stuff so it depends on the moderator. I particularly like Andrea Mitchell who has an hour from 1 to 2 here in the east. The best of the evening MSNBC stuff, in my view, is Rachel Maddow. Her point of view is very clear but she is very factually oriented. Guests can call her on them. And she is a thoughtful host, not an O'Reilly type. As for CNN, it depends on the host/moderator. Some are quite rightish, some try to stay somewhat removed but have a point of view despite it. You're simply going to get points of view wherever, partly because it's commercially wise right now to do so and partly because all of us have them. But some of us have them and don't care whether they are factually grounded. Witness Fox.
