Very true. But I find people are so used to the "Wizard of Oz/Brainless scarecrow" approach they get from most Doctors that I have to stress that being assertive is rule one.

You need the Doc to identify problems. Then it's up to you to read up on them so that you can ask questions and understand the positives and negatives of his/her approach.

I am seeing an Endocrinologist in a couple of days to try to optimize my testosterone and my Thyroid. I already know my test results and the "ranges" they love to use. And the battle I will have to get her to treat me on a "symptom and optimization" basis. Shouldn't have to do this, but they "cookie-cut" everything if they can.
