Brooks having an NYT column doesn't make him any less conservative. Then there's the thoughtful guy lecturing on leftist "hate" a week ago, Message 25794910 and then coming back with an Obama- Corleone comparison. Somebody here does seem to have some expertise on the hate topic. In a totally thoughtful way, of course. Any thoughtful person couldn't help but share your hatred of Obama. The general lack of thoughtfulness here is tragic, but you're always free to rejoin the pros, where the one true form of thought wrt Obama reigns supreme.

Bob,

I don't dismiss Brooks; I disagree with him on this point. Different things altogether. In fact, taking the time to post a disagreement shows I don't dismiss him.

Two problems with that column of his this morning: unusual, for Brooks, excessive hyperbole ("suicide march"); and usual, for him, claiming his views are "America's" views.

As for your comments about openness and bipartisanship, contrast on the openness bit this presidency with Bush. Obama has been phenomenally open. The difference is so great he's simply playing a different game.

On bipartisanship, it's the classic "it takes two to play" problem. The Reps have become the party of no. You can't be bipartisan with that.
