We're on the same page mph. That is one of the main reasons I am ideologically aligned with Conservatism. IMO conservatives regard their leaders roles as being one of protecting the individual's right to freedom of choice. In my experience, liberals believe govt should play a primary role in how we should all conduct our lives. Thankfully, millions of Americans will just not tolerate that kind of intrusion. If the democrats really wanted to help the less fortunate, they would encourage self-reliance and assist people to do for themselves.
