Agree with you about government mandated.

There's no longer any pretense at presenting both sides of an issue or presenting both party's point of view - you only have to look at the difference between the interviews of Obama and Palin. Who can forget Charley Gibson looking down his nose at Palin and asking that ridiculously loaded question about the Bush Doctrine.

Yes, the dems are masters at using the media. The reps could take a few lessons from them.
