The impetus was that members were trying to allocate time.

Recommend This Post is definitely needed.

IMHO we badly need a "Not Recommended" button...

Too busy to deal with one like that now, so hit me up another time, but off the top of my head, I'm not inclined to want to add that. A negative energy thing.

Being an aging (or aged) hippy who thinks online message boards are a very cool thing about the internet, as well as a way to make a decent living if you know what you're doing and are lucky, I like to keep it all as positive as possible. Good vibes all around.

The Recommended thing basically allows the community to say they're ambivalent about a post (no recommends) or consider it a must-read (lots of recommends), and readers can choose to read all posts or ones with no recommendations.

A negative recommendation not only is a way for the community to insult someone (bad vibes), but really isn't helpful to the person who's just looking for highly-recommended posts. Doesn't do them much good to see that the community dislikes a post and suggests not reading it.

Edit: If that doesn't prove I'm the same ol' me, I don't know what does. All that verbage to just say "no". hehe
