I've paid taxes, including SS for 45 years. Never liked it but never complained. I've always voted for school issues despite having no kids. I always figured I was fairly successful, not great not bad, so I could get by.

RW, > You on the other hand sound really bitter.

On the contrary, I am very optimistic about the future, both mine and that of the people I come across every day.

It's that optimism that allows me to place my faith in people to get their own problems taken care of (or rely on their friends, neighbors, community, church, etc. for help), rather than running to the government every time they hit some hardship or another.

The only "bitterness" is coming from you who cannot take what you can dish out on a daily basis.

I think despite having a great, high paying job with a great company and supposedly being a good Christian ( at least by his own lights ), Ten is deeply dissillusioned and unsatisfied. He's done what he was told all his life, but he's got this horrible, hollow need he can't fill.

What to do? Maybe consider that the things you thought mattered don't mean shit?
