Minneapolis Dept of Walking

Man, I can't tell you what a GREAT idea I think that is. I walk (currently, with the summer FL heat) 4.5 miles a day, and it's done me a world of good. Lost 35 lbs... feel great. Reduces my likelihood of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, depression, etc, etc.

What can I say... you go Minneapolis! Lower health costs and have happier people!

Minneapolis Dept of Walking - is this carrying government far enough for you? I suppose anyone who thought this or the $200K program to promote drinking tap water was a silly waste of money is just an ANARCHIST.

Did you read the MPLS website? Its a program to encourage people to walk and bike more. Why? Because Americans tend to be too inactive and overweight.....even in MN.

How, precisely is the government supposed to do this? Is this not just done naturally? And when it is -10 degrees outside with 13 inches of snow, HOW DOES WALKING/BIKING BECOME A PART OF AN EVERYDAY ROUTINE?

People walk every day around the parks even in winter. And they bike when the bikeways are clear. MPLS has a bunch of lakes within the city limits.....they are called the Emerald Necklace. You can ride your bike from one end of the city to the other end on bikepaths that are separated from people walking and cars.

People in MPLS are some of the healthiest people in the country and the Minnesotan lifespan is one of the longest.

Its really sad how wingers are so far below the curve that they misconstrue so many things that only make them look foolish.
