My mother had a lot of good information on her dad's side of the family. Very little on her mother's side. I have a book that was prepared that traces the Norwegian side of the family back to late 1700s Norway.

It does take a lot of time for sure. But to me, research is the most fun....I love to learn about new things....with genealogy, now it is important to know when county lines moved, or when new counties were created from what counties...I like the side aspects as well....Let's say something happened in 1859-60....I like to figure what else was going on in the country at the same time, and what the surroundings were like in the particular town....plus what did people of the time do for a living?

Only qualifications are: being a detective and a packrat....
