That shows there is too much regulation. How can you say that when you don't know why its regulated? What could possibly be a good reason for a city to regulate lawn care? I don't know. I haven't thought about it nor have I bothered to find out. Seattle has mostly good governance so I suspect they have good reasons for the regulation. ----------------------------------------------------- Did you see the Dept of Walking in Minneapolis? Nothing wrong with that.....they are encouraging the population to be more healthy. Why do you have a problem with that? Did you know that obesity is at an all time high among children and now children are getting adult Diabetes and other adult illnesses because of their poor health. One, you realize no one is really going to change their behavior because a city hires some "walking ambassadors". People will do whatever walking they want to - department of walking or not. People are turned on to walking all the time. RW told you of his own personal experience. So if the city can spark more people into walking, why are you against it?Two, this is obviously just a make-work project. I've heard of "walking around money" before, but this is the real thing. People in MN are not nearly as cynical as you are. Hence, things work much better there. ------------------------------------------------- Or the $200K program to encourage drinking tap water there. Let's look at what's accomplished by getting people to drink tap water instead of bottled water. First of all, most bottled water IS tap water. So by eliminating the plastic bottle, you reduce litter, free up space in garbage landfills and reduce our dependency on oil. Oh wait......you work for an oil company. Never mind. Yep, there you have it. I only think this is silly because of all the profits we're gonna make on water bottles. LOL Brumar, you are one of the more open minded Rs on this thread but you have a ways to go.
