We grew up understanding that we were going to have Thanksgiving dinner at their home and take the Christmas picture then. Nobody ever questioned it - you just knew you had to be there. Even the grandkids understood as teenagers that they had to be there - when they would rather have been doing something else. As the years went on and with 17 grandkids, there would be some missing, but not very often.
