I spent four days getting that purple on there last year and it started chipping off after a few months. Hence, the replacement of wood with recycled plastic and wood particle planks that are relatively impervious to weather. The new color claims to be 'cherry' and it is sort of red. Matches our bricks.

My wife picks the colors in my family, as I don't care unless it's hideous. The color she picked for our door in Juneau enraged one of my co-workers, who said he hated it with a passion. Her color choices tend to be bright, and I have to tone her down or I end up doing it over again after she finds out her first pick was too bright.
