rich, i agree, but by empowering the public, the special interests lose power.

until the cost is closely associated with the service and the one getting served, no system will work.

not. gonna. happen.

they want a return on their bribes.

<You pay for your food, shelter, clothing , transportation etc. Why not health?>

Do you pay for the fire department to come to your house if it is on fire? Do you pay the police to assist you if you are being robbed or assaulted? Should some people have police protection while others have none?

>>Actually , It already has. Catastrophic insurance policies have something called PNR which is prenegotiated rates.<<

Cat Policies have nothing to do with pre negotiated rates.

Those [PNRs] are set up thru Yet Another Layer of the current system called PPOs [Preferred Provider Organizations] and are set by the Hospital Group that participates with the insurance company and they simply accept "assignment" or what ever the particular plan pays.

You can purchase membership to a PPO Network without Insurance of any kind and still get the "Discount".

PNRs are available thru Managed Care Programs and Insurance policies.

Health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs) are types of managed health-care systems. HMO policies are not insurance policies even thought they are regulated by the insurance dept.

Catastrophic health insurance plans just have High Deductibles.

>>The market place would solve the cost problem.<<

They will have to turn back the Hands of Time on Medical Inflation .. because .. the insurance co is only the Bill Payer on behalf of the patient. It's the Medical Inflation that's Driving Up the Cost.

Just Peruse thru this MedPac File and look at the Charts on Medical Inflation.
