"Basically, I see the WSJ editorials as consistently taking the the view that supports money and the left as consistently taking the view of the general welfare. Each (money & the general welfare) needs the other and neither can successfully survive without the other and in this country government has been the one to divide up the spoils between these competing interests."

I would only add that the WSJ editorials also support the concept of creating money/wealth. It is the creation that is needed by all of us for the general welfare. The argument should be on how to both create wealth, opportunity and well being. Ignoring any of the three is destructive to the well being of the nation. Wealth not something simply there to be harvested at will.
