wow, we've come to the point we can't even pay $150 for our own health, we want insurance to cover it for "free."

also, i don't think cost or lack of education is the primary issue. the primary issue is food is our drug of choice.

nobody paid me to learn about my diet. an occupational nurse gave me an incredible referral and i gave it a try - and she was right. i paid for my education (books) and my supplements (mainly high quality fish oil for health), myself - and it has been the best personal benefit money i've ever spent.

in my case, it is literally the difference between wasting away due to ulnar nerve damage or working to challenge (and eventually beat) personal bests in strength, 400m sprint and 5k and 10ks. i'm close to mid 40s and i didn't run more than 50m or weight train in more than 2 decades.

to me the opportunity is invaluable.

my life long allergy problem is basically gone and i haven't called in sick to work due to a cold in 30 months and counting - i used to call in 3-5 times a year like clockwork and spend another 3-5 days a year at work but miserable.

but very few (low single digits) americans even care. they prefer the sickness and the rapid deterioration as they age as long as they get their excessive carbohydrate and omega 6 fat fix. they've convinced themselves that there is no other option and they refuse to try anything new - sometimes out of fear it might work and then they have to be responsible for their deteriorating condition.

it is a bizarre psychology.

joslin diabetes center "gets it." ask you doctor if they can cite joslin's dietary recommendation - odds are he can't. you see, no pharma told him/her about it. yes, there are exceptions. but they are just that.
