Inode, > Moreover, I don't know what makes him think there will be more "miracles of modern medicine" if Obamacare passes and they remove the profits from medical R&D activities.

It's not just profits. It's the fundamental nature of viruses.

Z is putting his faith in a vaccine. But the whole concept of vaccines was discovered a century ago by Jonas Salk, and even that can't overcome viruses that love to mutate, such as HIV or even the flu.

One of these days, I hope to help develop computer programs that will "solve" (for lack of a better term) the puzzle of protein-folding. That could lead to cures which are developed through biotech engineering rather than relying on the human immune system to produce antibodies.

But even then, I would hope that such biomedical and biotech research would go toward worthy causes like saving lives and curing crippling diseases, rather than maintaining a lifestyle of moral depravity.

Oh wow! Meds are going to be free under Obamacare? Where does it say that? I can't wait.
