I heard the analyst say, 'known liar' or something to that effect, and he substantiated the statement with evidence. I heard other stuff too, lots more stuff that creates a broader context.

He said: "I want to stress first of all, we must wait until all the facts are in to make a final judgement."

Thats very fair. He said he would stand with him if it turns out he was captured and did not desert.

There is more known about the private and no one who knows him is defending him, that is rare in this type of circumstance. The point the Analyst was stressing is that it would be a mistake at this point to jump on the bandwagon to declare the private an American hero, at least until more is known. Caution is not your best suit I can see.
