Let see. I've got all my mp3 files on an external hard drive. I've started getting some errors that there is a corrupt file on the external hard drive, and I should run chkdsk. When I try to run chkdsk/f at the command prompt, I get a message 'Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process'. I've just rebooted and tried again, and same message about volume in use by another process.

I've synced my iPod, and am getting a message that many of the mp3 files are missing, so something has gone astray with the external drive.

Any suggestion for how to force chkdsk to run on the external drive?
