The performance of the S&P 500 index since its March 9, 2009, bottom looks eerily similar to what happened in the four months after the Aug. 12, 1982, bull market began.

What they fail to mention was that interest rates were sky high and beginning their descent thus fueling the market. That situation does not exist today.
