My sentiments exactly opposite...

The few crumbs that you gain by buying on dips amounts to peanuts. Long term investers in the 'right' stocks like Intel makes it big without feeding the tax collector.

We can even become 'little' Ted Turners and give our inflated stocks to charity and deduct its full market value. What a deal! This benefit is only available to long term investors.

Someday I might even become a philanthropist (when I learn how to spell the word), but I will do it the Ted Turner way.
(i.e. make sure that it benefits me more than the party receiving the 'gift').

That may not sound exactly humble, but that is the true meaning of charity starting at home,
