The point is there are few Secretaries of State who can really lay claim to particular "accomplishments" -- that is because the nature of their work is behind the scenes. Rice was more active behind the scenes than any I've seen, personally -- dating back at least to Nixon. Possible exception would be the negotiations with Aziz leading up to the Gulf War (but that was hardly "behind the scenes").

There are also many things Rice did that most liberals would be pleased with. She fought, successfully, many of the policies put forth by those with views liberals opposed. The advisory role is an important one for Sec/State, and she was a very powerful voice.

I didn't always agree with her, but unlike you ideologues on this thread, that isn't a requirement for me.
