<isn't that how you pay for doctors?> No -- doctors generate 'billable events" and are reimbursed. Some doctors are on salary, but that is the exception rather than the rule. Private insurance runs the same gauntlet as does public insurance -- as long as it is a billable event driven system you will never ever control costs. On the contrary, you will see healthcare bankrupt America.

Skeeter, private medicine is indeed about profit but you left something out.. profit brings competition and competition raises efficiency.

insurance companies have been captured (capture theory) and now they have 'captured' us.

ban medical insurance and return medicine to the free market and watch medical prices drop like a rock.
