In the 70's, after Vietnam, our conventional forces for some time were allowed to become relatively weaker. That was irresponsible, since it increased the odds that we may have had no other choice but to use nukes in case of a conflict. Reagan remedied that situation.

It took two years after Pearl Harbor to build a strong military. We had the two years due to our geographic isolation by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans."

In the wonderful world of Obama we have no enemies. We simply have a chat and everything is fine. With such wonderous power who needs a military. Frankly, I am tired of being the worlds policeman. When we leave the world will cry Yankee come back. Barack will say - sing a song like Kumbaya!
