>>i'm not talking about theory. i'm talking about proven and practiced free market principles. principles that have been refined with time. <<

g, i disagree that free market principles have been refined over time. over time, free market principles collapse as selfish people gain the power to game the system to their advantage.

for example, copyright law was reasonable when it was established. disney got so large, as did mickey mouse, that micky will *never* enter the public domain.

*ever*. disney got greedy, gamed copyright law by bribing our sociopathic liar leaders and the "free market" failed.

well, you are right - the free market didn't fail. human greed squashed it.

anything free market will collapse over time, imho, as people gain power and become criminals. criminal behavior seems to be a matter of opportunity - and eventually people get the opportunity to wholesale r*pe the system for personal gain and that is *exactly* what our system has evolved into.

i'd prefer actual competition in a free market, but the big participants don't want competition and our politicians are for sale to the those people.

therefore, competition is reduced. goldman's main competitors were allowed to go bust while goldman was made whole by the tax payers. now they rake in the profits that they always wanted - not b/c they excelled in a free market, but b/c they bribed politicians and put their inside men into positions of power - they gamed the system.

it will *always* happen. maybe not immediately, but it *will* happen. that's why you don't have any nice dictators - they *always* fork over the people. *always*. and even if one didn't, the next one would.

i guess my ultimate message is "hold on tight, it gets uglier from here."
