I wouldn't abuse him (I don't think), but I don't think I should be arrested just in case I feel the urge...

I mean it is my house. I still think I should be able to say whatever I want in it- unless it is "I'm going to kill you"- or something equally, and immediately, threatening. If a reasonable person felt in real danger- then and only then do I think I should be arrested in, or on the property of, my own home. I think homes are special. I always had problems with the booby trap cases- where some poor home owner had been burgled several times and they put a device in to blow away someone opening a window and climbing in. I mean you realize it COULD be police that come through the window, but I still sympathize with the homeowner. They never win those cases, though.
