I am amazed by Obama's plunging numbers. Here is what I think happened. His attack on the police caused him to be thought of by many in the same vein as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

I don't think it's that by itself, but bit by bit, Obama's true far-left attitudes and policies are being betrayed to the public by none other than Obama himself.

Remember, Obama has always gotten himself in trouble with these little unscripted moments where his true self shows - "clinging to God and guns", "spread the wealth", etc. During the campaign the press could and did cover for him. But now he has exposed himself more and more by always being in front of a mike, greatly increasing the chances of a slip-up, and his policy choices are tax-and-spend-and-claim-nobody-but-the-rich-will-pay, a veritable caricature of lefties run wild.

The true Obama is slowly seeping into the consciousness of the public for the very first time, and they don't like him all that much. Well the 30% who call themselves "progressive" like him fine, it's that other 70% who are the killer.

I think when biographers begin to write the story of Obama's presidency, the first question on their minds will be why a man who could present himself as a centrist during the campaign with such discipline, threw caution to the winds the minute he got into office.

As someone who voted for Obama, Im hugely disappointed. Unlike his campaign where he seemed to be thoughtful and analytical, he seems to adopt a cookbook approach to governance, like a chess player who can only see one move ahead. There has just been a series of poor decisions, reliance on Geithner and people who have demonstrated incompetence, pushing troops into mountainous regions of Afghanistan, where even the soviets who were way closer logistically failed miserably, calling a police officer stupid without having full knowledge of the situation, He could have used more appropriate language like, given that Gates was in poor health and had just returned from a long trip it would have been nice if the police had been able to cut him some slack etc.
Now a half-baked universal health care scheme, trying to get Israelis to stop purchasing property in Jerusalem. He seems to be torpedoing his own peace process. Mr. Obama's penchant for taking unwinable positions is remarkable for the short time he's been in office. I think it will be very difficult to get people to serve willingly in the armed forces or national guard, and re-instituting the draft will be impossible under such leadership. There must be any number of republicans planning presidential bids already.

The economic fallout is far from being done, States are being badly hurt by the declines in tax receipts, and cant solve the problem by themselves. Its hard to raise real estate tax receipts much when home prices fall, and in mass. they are raising the sales taxes by 1.25%. I see that backfiring in a big way as more people will either shop online avoiding sales tax entirely or they will go to a neighboring state with a lower sales tax to make their purchases. My guess is the overall result will be slightly less revenues as the increase will be offset by retail stores going out of business and not paying the sales taxes collected. People arent really all that stupid. Mass. is also trying to save money by not paying hospitals and other health care providers in timely fashion, this will pretty quickly lead to big declines in health care services. given the domestic problems Obama is facing, its hard to believe he has the time to embark on an unwinable war in afghanistan, where casualties are sure increase on a monthly basis, and where there is no core of local support for this cause. Right now my call is that Obama, and the governors of NY and Mass will be one termers.

I think you have a point.

Obama's race-baiting comments about the Gates situation showed that Obama lied about his position on race and his claim to be a post-racial uniter.

Perhaps there were some giving him a pass on his serial lying over other political issues, but this was one lie too many.
