I don't understand why anyone should be excused from acting like an arrogant jerk to a police officer. Having been either involved in, or on the periphery of, more than my share of "law enforcement events", it just makes no sense to me why someone would do this. I've never seen it end well for the person involved -- at a minimum, they create a hassle for themselves, and at worst they create a safety hazard with potentially serious consequences for themselves or someone else.
