I agree.

There are so many reasons people take drugs- and chief among them is that people self medicate. And if drugs aren't illegal, there is not a lot of collateral damage with that self medication. I know a lot of people who do better with alcohol and drugs than they do with prescription meds- but even if that weren't the case, adults should get to choose their poisons.

I read an interesting study a couple of weeks ago.

They took some lab rats and deprived them of maternal exposure for periods of time. This caused some sort of malfunction in the rat brains that caused them to be more likely to become addicted to opiates.

Then they exposed these same rats to THC during the rat "teenage" period of time.

Those that were exposed to the THC were much less likely to become addicted to the opiates.

The THC seems to repair the brain malfunction.
