I think that part of the problem is with the patients themselves. My doctors will put their recommendations on the table and I will ask questions about benefits and liabilities. I have refused some treatments because the benefit seems negligible.

Frankly, I won't let someone stick a needle in my body or probe an orifice if I don't trust them. I have walked away from a Doctor's visit before because I didn't like the doctor. Maybe if individuals started taking their healthcare more seriously they wouldn't need the help of the nanny state.

In other words, many of the perceived issues can be remedied by a change in attitude about healthcare instead of legislation and a couple of trillion dollars.
