I'd slip a little recorder in my shirt pocket and hope they didn't search me.

They run you through a metal detector. They'd find it right off the bat. I also don't doubt they have electronics that detect eavesdropping devices. And finally, don't know what the law is in DC, but in my state recording a conversation without the permission of all participants is a crime.
