He has opposed Obama all over the place. Lincoln and Pryor are also pretty conservative. Why? Because their constituents will not send them back if they vote with the Democrats en banc. Landrieu faces the same problem in Louisiana. These people need to receive credit where it is due. They are standing up to immense political pressure from the socialists and thus far, they're handling it well.
