But there is no doubt that Obama applied a racial stereotype to the Gates situation on last Friday. Whether that is equivalent to racism, given the context, I'm not sure. There are contexts were racial stereotypes can be racism, and others where it isn't. I just don't know if this incident rises to that level or not.
