They have CLAIMED to be 'simplifying the tax system' but --- each and every time, even during the Reagan-era changes, more complications and loopholes and 'special tax preference items' were added to the US codes.

And the codes get longer and longer and more and more complicated.

So, no, if you ask me we have *never* truly simplified and reformed the code.
