One cop in particular was really bad. In private, to me, he'd tell me that he had killed people, stolen drugs, extorted prostitutes for sex, and just generally run his own little crime wave from behind his badge. He'd DARE me to say anything to anyone.

It doesn't surprise me. When I worked as a council deputy in 'liberal' LA, I had to deal with police complaints all the time.....not only about race but sexual preference as well. I would have to go over police reports and there would always be serious discrepancies like with Crowley's report. Suddenly one day, all the council deputies were called into a meeting with one of the head cops and a city official, and we were told to refer all police complaints directly to the cops without doing any investigation. We were told our lack of understanding of how the police dep't worked was making life difficult for the police.

At the end they asked if everyone understood. I sat there and knew it was BS......a scam. I said I would not comply with their new directive. I was the only one. They were furious, told me they were going to speak to my boss, and ended the meeting. I figured my ass was grass. I went back to my office and started packing up my stuff. Shortly thereafter, my boss came in......he looked at me and said......you did exactly the right thing and I am behind you 100%. I was shocked. Later that day, the woman who had taken notes during the meeting.....a Latina...came up to me crying. She told me her boyfriend....a really sweet guy......had been stopped by the police in another jurisdiction. They asked to see his license. He showed it to them. They told him he was speeding. He said he wasn't. After some back and forth, they pulled him out of the car and beat the sh*t out of him. Told him not to tell anyone or they would go after his family. Threw the ticket on top of him. I heard stories like that all the live long day in 'liberal' Los Angeles.

But of course, Crowley teaches a course on racial profiling so he has to be the best of the best......and the incorrect info on his police report.......just one big typo. Isn't that right, ten?
