The major players all agree.

They have figured out how to make this sausage machine work for them. Of course they agree. Now, working for us, or for their constituents, even, that's another matter.

Edit: I follow a lot of health blogs written by doctors. Every time one of those doctors has veered off his health issues to comment on this topic it has been negative. Every one.

On the way into work I was listening to the head of PhRMA which represents most of the drug companies explaining their support of the Obama bill. The AMA, as conservative as you get, has endorsed the Obama bill.

We already know there was a quid pro quo with the AMA, that is, $245 Billion in Medicare cuts already planned would be un-done. But it is a deal with the devil, not unlike the numerous deals the automakers made with the UAW -- you get something now, but in the long haul it kills you.

For this reason, STATE medical associations all over the country are opposing the legislation.

Continuing the current system is the worst case scenario.

Not even close.

Methinks the people who are desperately opposed to change are being motivated by politics or ideology; they don't want to give the democrats/liberals "a win"

I'm sure that's a factor, but far from the biggest. Many believe that some of the proposed changes are a worse case scenario than the current system, a few believe they are about the same or not much better and will keep us from making other more important improvements.
