Politics has been defined by culture over the last few cycles, and we've become a rural party and a Southern party. We've been losing inner suburbs and the like. A lot of this was the policies of the Bush administration.

This is interesting.......the second time in a week the S word comes up. This might explain why Lindsey Graham has become more reasonable recently and the weird content coming out of K. Hutchinson's office yesterday. I think this has been a topic of discussion for some time around some Rs.

Another important point Davis made is that cultural politics, as perfected by Karl Rove and his disciples in the last administration, has caused a widening education gap in the makeup of the the parties:

The high education areas Obama carried - 78 of the 100 counties with the highest education. McCain carried 88 of the 100 counties with the lowest education. As we move to cultural politics, that's been the shift.

Bingo! The guy hit the nail on the head. You got to know that when a party thinks a barely literate person like Palin would make a good president, that party has serious problems.

Matthews noted that during a Republican primary debate last year only three of the candidates standing on stage raised their hands when asked if they believed in evolution: "You have a party that doesn't believe what they were taught in high school."

Ugh! The insanity..........

"Ex-GOP Rep. Tom Davis Warns Republicans: "We've Become A Rural And Southern Party" (VIDEO)"

In this health care thing - it's like they're INVISIBLE. They might as well not exist. It's the blue dog (D)'s that carry all the (R) voters hopes.

You've got to wonder if the (R) voters will ask themselves - "Why should I even VOTE for an (R)? A (D) close to my own beliefs will be able to have some actual clout!"

No doubt the reps need to shape up and get ready for the elections. That said, the way the dems perform recently much change may not be required to leap frog the 'change' not taking much place by the admin now in place.
