Both parties love to scare folks. LBJ's mushroom cloud Barry Goldwater commercial was the most obvious, though the Republican, "keep the current system so we and blue dog Democrats keep getting big contributions" ads are similar in tone. When I first saw the mushroom cloud ad, I thought it was "for" Barry. <G> But it is a truism from warfare, divide and conquer. Napoleon is the greatest example of this, though there were many examples in earlier warfare. There was no way that Napoleon could defeat Austria, Prussia, Holland, and Russia if they got their troops together on the field. So, he beat one, took them out of the war, then moved on. That is the way health care is being attacked.
