Even if that would be a true possibility... how would that be any different from private insurance plans that are offered today?

(They spell out what is covered and what is not, etc.)

Even if the government gets around to coming up with a new 'public' insurance plan to offer, that plan would still have to spell out it's coverage options in the plan documents/contract.

And, if you don't like coverage offered there couldn't you just keep your private insurance plan?
