I may be wrong about this. Looking at past trips I realize that most of my flights from LAX were on LTU, now flagged as Air Berlin, rather than Lufthansa. I think I was under the impression they were part of Lufthansa at one point, but this may have been in error. Service on LTU was certainly fantastic.

I do recall one trip which was definitely on Lufthansa from LAX. In Frankfurt we transferred to Alitalia, code-shared as Lufthansa, for the final leg to Venice which I didn't appreciate much. Alitalia does not have much to recommend it.
