My only bow to fatalistic pessimism is due the nagging feeling that my eternal optimism in the fullness of time may not be justified by an unfortunate and perhaps sheerly accidental continuation of the endless disappointments that are the dress rehearsal for my eventual triumph. yes, it reminds me of a line from an old movie, McCabe and Mrs. Millar: " If frogs had wings, they wouldn't bump their ass's so often"
