Yes, everything thinks you need a public option. Until you explain to them they're going to have to pay for it (worse, that their CHILDREN are going to have to pay for it, forever).

According to NYT, 43% of of Americans would be willing to $500 a year more in taxes to pay for universal health care. If you raise that $500 figure to something realistic that figure will undoubtedly drop to the 20s.

Perhaps a more telling element of the poll was the following:

"Most Americans who have health insurance are fairly happy with the cost and quality of their own care, but perceptions of the country’s health care in general are much more negative. In terms of quality, 77 percent say they are satisfied with their own care, but only 48 percent are satisfied with the quality of care for the country as a whole. Fifty percent are satisfied with the cost of their own care while just 19 percent are satisfied with costs nationwide. "

Think about this for a minute. Nearly 80% are satisfied with their own care, yet only half believe the country as a whole has satisfactory health care?

While an astounding proportion of the population is satisfied with their own care, they 30% have come to believe, SOMEHOW, that everyone else's health care is not-so-good. EVEN THOUGH THAT "EVERYONE ELSE" IS PLEASED WITH THEIR CARE!

What you have is a situation where the current administration has "picked" this as an issue and made a problem where none exists. Because they want socialized medicine and a government option is a precursor it.
